Резюме
This article presents the results from the investigations
of the textile found in grave № 112a from Church № 2 cemetery in
Drastar (mediaeval Silistra, Bulgaria), discovered in 1995. The
textile remains found on and around the skull are from a man’s hat.
The lower half of the hat was decorated with a band from metal
threads (gilded silver strip wound around silk core) textile. It is a
striped fabric, consisting of wide gilded fields, separated by narrower
coloured stripes with gilt chess (cruciform) design. Similar textiles
have been spread in the Bulgarian lands in the 14th century.
